Myth: Your resumé is the most important part of your job search.
Reality: Your job search is really a marketing problem. You are the product and the company or companies you want to work for, ‘your market.’ Your resumé is just one part of the marketing process. Think of your resumé as an advertisement for you. A well crafted resumé should say to the reader…’I want to meet this person.’ No one ever got their first job just by someone reading a resumé. Your resumé is your introduction to the job market and if written effectively will get you interviews.
