3 things every interviewer wants to know

Graduates need to know… interview questions are designed to determine 3 things. This is what the interviewer need to know:

1. Can you do the job?

2. Will you fit in the company?

3. Do you want the job?

The answer to the first question is “yes.” The interviewer knows you are right out of school. The interviewer knows your qualifications. The interviewer has seen your resumé. Why would a company interview you if they did not think you were qualified? You can do the job. You are qualified…that’s why you are in the interview.

Will you fit in the company? This is a judgment call based on personal chemistry and the way you behave in the interview. The interviewer will want to know if you are the kind of person they would like to work with and the kind others would like to work with.

Do you want the job? The reason you are there is to convince the interviewer you can make a contribution and that you want the job.

Therefore, understanding what the interview is trying to determine will help you prepare for  your interview.
